In the first quarter of 2022, textile and apparel exports continued to grow year-on-year
In the fourth quarter of 2021, my country's exports of anti-epidemic materials to Southeast Asia, Central Asia, and the Americas performed strongly. In addition, due to the continuous increase in sea freight, customers in Europe and the United States placed orders in advance to purchase items needed for Christmas and New Year's Day, driving my country's textile and apparel exports10 Since the beginning of the month, the volume has continued to increase, and the three-month period in the fourth quarter has maintained a double-digit growth rate. In the first quarter of 2022, China's textile and apparel exports continued to improve, with a cumulative export of 72.251 billion US dollars, an increase of 10.96% year-on-year, and maintained a positive double-digit year-on-year growth momentum for two consecutive quarters, achieving the goal of a stable start, which is a good year for the textile industry. The apparel export market is off to a good start.
According to customs statistics, my country's textile and apparel exports in the first quarter of this year increased by 10.96% year-on-year. If compared with the same period in 2020 and 2019, they increased by 59.62% and 28.29% respectively, which further confirms that my country's textile and apparel foreign trade in the first quarter of this year is improving. situation. In the first quarter, China's textile and apparel exports can maintain a growth momentum, first of all thanks to the fundamentals of my country's long-term economic improvement, as well as the supply stability and quality reliability of China's textile industry chain. In addition, the demand for textiles and clothing in Europe and the United States and other regions is stable, and the production capacity of clothing, shoes and hats in Southeast Asia continues to recover, resulting in a decrease in my country's clothing export orders, but an increase in textile fabric export orders. Finally, the export of textiles and clothing between my country and the countries along the "Belt and Road" and RCEP member countries maintains a rapid growth trend. On the whole, the integrity and stability of my country's textile and apparel supply chain are still relatively competitive in the international market, and it is difficult to be replaced in the short term.
Looking forward to the second quarter, China's textile and apparel exports are faced with increasing uncertainties and are still full of challenges. First of all, the Omicron variant has spread globally again. In addition, under the current international situation of the game of major powers, there are still many unstable and uncertain factors. The export environment of China's textile and clothing in the second quarter is not optimistic. Secondly, the economic stimulus measures of the world's major economies are gradually weakening, and the global economic growth is expected to show a downward trend. It is expected that in the second quarter, China's textile exports may face the current situation of shrinking global textile demand. At the same time, in the second quarter, the Fed’s willingness to raise interest rates has risen, global liquidity may tighten at a faster pace, high inflation is easy to rise, and commodities may exhibit high-frequency fluctuations. Under the relatively strong fundamentals of the RMB, it may be difficult to show a trend. The depreciation of China's textile and apparel exports is expected to restrain the growth of China's textile and apparel exports. On the whole, the external challenges of my country's textile and apparel exports will increase in the coming period, and there is still a long way to go for the stable growth of exports.
